Independent Builders Network
Tim Renwick from the Independent Builders Network sat down with us to talk about his membership-based business. As well, Tim shared insights into new home building. Additionally he gave us his thoughts on what lies ahead with the housing market.
The Network is a membership-based organisation. Most of the members are small business operators and they work in the quality segment of the new home building market. Therefore the Network uses its collective power to get good supplier deals for its members. In other words it provides resources and knowledge to help members compete against volume builders. As a result of the membership, the group are also offered continuing professional development. For instance some of the areas the members receive development in include marketing and promoting.
Tim was motivated to come along to our March Business Breakfast to hear retired Fitzroy footballers, Laurie Serafini and Paul Roos, reminisce about a club Tim was closely connected with. However he gained more than sentimental reminiscing when he began networking with the other attendees.
Tim was surprised at the networking breakfast. It turned out that he recognized several people in his industry. And he came away with some great business connections.
Note: Tim’s surname is pronounced “Ren-ick”.
The Independent Builders Network began in 2009 with Tim’s father, Kevin Renwick. The Network’s mission was to assist smaller builders to increase their professionalism. This was as a result of gathering to work on problem solving, collective purchasing power and sales channels.
Today the Network comprises of well over 140-members throughout Eastern Australia combining their purchasing to provide affordable pricing whilst constructing innovative and dynamic designs that exemplify their promise: Your home, Your builder.
