Ken Gibson has been supporting causes for decades. As a result he has put an exclamation mark on a glittering business career. Many know Ken from his early days in commercial radio. Many attribute their success to Ken and the support he is known to be generous in giving. Ken has raised more than $160 million in funds over the past 30 years for beneficiaries in the youth, sports and environment. As a result of supporting the cause of many not-for-profits, Ken is one of Australasia’s most successful cause marketers. Indeed his passion for the environment was at the heart of creating Partnerships for Landcare Australia.
Supporting causes – the environment
As well as Landcare, Ken assisted eco-initiatives including the Coles Green Bag supermarket project. Other initiatives include the Junior Landcare with Mitre 10, Holden Habitat Heroes and the Elders Landcare Farming Program. As a result of his passions, Ken became a director of ReThink Sustainability. He is a hands-on director at ReThink Sustainability, displaying leadership in renewable energy, water management and carbon neutrality. Over the last few years, governemtns and regulators have taken action to bring sustainabnility issues to the core companies’ management agendas. In line with this, ReThink Sustainabilty also assists businesses by providing expert guidance in the key areas of communications, education and partnering with businesses.
Caring for the environment
Building the next generation of environmental champions is something that we continue to be passionate about at Woolworths. Our Junior Landcare Grants program has already helped more than 100,000 children get hands-on in caring for the environment. Because of this, Woolworths is proud to be able to support Landcare Australia’s online Learning Centre. The Learning Centre makes it easier for students to learn more about how they can help the environment.Claire Peters | Woolworths Supermarkets – Managing Director
